Grand Canyon Sightseeing Tours Grand Canyon bus tour with an exclusive and adventurous ATV tour of Eldorado Canyon, located south of Lake Mead near the Colorado River, visits areas of remarkable scenic wonder and historical significance. Former residents include gold miners, greedy speculators, renegade Indians, Civil War deserters, and ghosts referred to as the “Hell Dogs of Eldorado Canyon.”
Grand Canyon sightseeing tours feature an off-road excursion on 4-wheel drive, fully-automatic vehicles covers extreme mountain terrain, forests of cholla cactus, and towering rock formations. Desert wildlife, such as Big Horn Sheep, mustangs, and foxes, are drawn to a natural spring, so cameras and binoculars are suggested. Visitors, too, are often surprised by the area’s magnificent Spring wildflower displays, a gift from Mother Nature when conditions are right.
Eldorado Canyon’s intriguing setting has landed it starring roles in two high-profile movies, “3,000 Miles to Graceland,“ and “Breakdown.“ Highlights of the trip include a walking tour of the Techatticup Mine, which for approximately 70 years until the mid-1940s remained one of the richest gold producers in Nevada. Visitors explore three different shafts, one of which drops down more than 900 feet, where temperatures are a constant 70 degrees F. The mine’s climate was one comfort afforded the pioneering hard-rock miners, who laboriously chiseled by candlelight with primitive tools in their search for the precious metal. A lunch stop at the Old West Town gives visitors time to browse through the reptile exhibit and cactus garden. Original mining equipment and re-creations of stone buildings help visualize life in a rugged mining camp during the 1800s.
